I was given some gunpowder mustard for Xmas which I was hoping would blow my head off but sadly, whilst it is nicer that colemans, isn't hitting the spot.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

mix some wasabi or horseradish powder in too? They usually do the trick for me.

A good dollop of Maille dijon mustard hits the spot.

Why do you want mustard to 'blow your head off'?

It should complement.

I'm quite fond of strong mustard /horseradish too. If my eyes aren't watering, it's not strong enough.

Get Colemans mustard powder and make it with as little water as humanly possible.

Quite so. Anything else just isn't mustard, and is probably foreign.

Colemans powder is spot on- but you HAVE to leave the flavour to develope- the flavour get soi much stronger if left for a few hours.

iirc the mustard mixture is exothermic too.

I went to a Thai resturant and as I don't like coconut in my curry I went for a jungle curry, blew my head off

My Brother (mad Forces person) buys this all the time - it's not as intense as the insanity sauce but it's plenty hot enough believe me.

so, I left both colman's and the gunpowder on the side all morning to see what happens - made with very little water and 3 heaped tea spoons of mustard

colman's is still very meh

the gunpowder gives the nasal hit (like wasabi) but then falls away

the search continues
