I'm after a new point and shoot and have pretty much narrowed it down the the above two models so does anyone have any real world experience of either / both and can recommend one or the other?

They both seem to get great reviews online but I haven't seen anything (yet) that would steer me one way or another. The price difference is minimal and it'll be mainly used for travelling / holiday snaps. Does either have a "killer feature" that the other one doesn't that I should know about that would sway my decision?

I have recently bought the TZ10 previously I have had Canon cameras.
The TZ10 has a GPS as well which the Canon does not, it also has a lot more features such as special effects for instance taking photos through plane windows, food shots etc.
It has certain features such as face recognition +++........ I am still working my way through all the facilities +the manual operation as well as automatic. The definition and clarity of the photos seem to be very good.

So far I am very happy with it

I am sure that there are some more experienced photographers who will be along shortly to tell you more

i havent had a go on the TZ10 but i have an older version (TZ5) which i can definately recommend. the auto setting is really good so for a simple point and shoot the Lumix is the one id go for, if it at all takes after the TZ5 anyway. i found it quite difficult to take a bad picture on it to be honest.

Thanks for the replies so far. For the TZ, is there a recommended minimum speed SDHC card I'd need like 15GB/s, 30GB/s etc. or does it not write fast enough to make any difference beyond a certain point, regardless of the speed of the card?

I have just got the TZ10. I will be seeing what it can do over the next few weeks.

Not soon enough for you, sorry!
