Damper decsions Nitrons ?

Looking for some best guidance.
Currently looking to replace the suspension dampers etc on my 4.5 LW , I'm not a trackday addict (yet) and don't want rock hard suspension that leaves you with bruised bones each time you get in , BUT I do want to ensure that whatever I install in place of the standards give a subtle ride and better handling with potential to use on the track on a few occasions now and then.
Should I bit the bullet and invest into Nitrons ?
has anyone had any good experiances with Racing Reds or similar ?

There are many choices - budget is a clear factor in the decision making. Personally I would always opt for Nitrons. They are an excellent quality damper that vastly improves (when correctly set up!) the ride and handling. A cheaper damper wont be as good. I dont think the more expensive options (eg Ohlins) are a significant improvement on Nitrons.
Having spoken with various garages, other cerb owners, trackday addicts etc.. then for me Nitrons always win.

If you are in the South East then you just need to speak to APM, Austec etc to find out what they charge. Ultimately the prices for Nitrons are going to be much the same from each garage - you just make your call on who you trust to work on your car.

I have just had Gaz Gold Pro's fitted on my Cerb after speaking to APM. I appriciate they probably wont be quite as good as the Nitrons, but they are offer from Gaz at the moment for £599, so couldn't say no really. Will be getting the car back tomorrow 
Apparently its one of the best value for money mods for a Cerb. Any decent shocks will be a huge improvment over standard/old.

+1 Andy fitted these to my Chimaera, £ for £ I think as a 'performance' enhancer they have to be up there among the best mods to do. They inspire much more confidence in the handling allowing you to push on a little harder.Dan

Opted for Nitrons as they seem to get the best ratings from most on here and from the specialists I have spoken to.
No one really rated the Gaz shocks, squeek and leak was a fair summary of what I heard from more than one person.
Racing Red are made by nitron and are good but not as good.
I have just been quoted circa £2K + VAT for a full suspension rebuild inc complete re bush and sorting out the seized tracking adjusters on the back along with the supply and fit of Nitrons with Eibach springs and fully set up.
Opted for Nitrons as they seem to get the best ratings from most on here and from the specialists I have spoken to.

I haven't experienced Nitrons but the people who have them seem to say they are great. I have Gaz Gold Pros and they feel fine to me and a good improvement over standard. General opinion says Nitrons are better and Gaz are good so it depends on how much you want to spend. Put in some overtime and have Nitrons as your goal or go for gold and have perfectly good dampers for the job but they're not Nitrons. I went through this myself and went for Golds because of the price I could afford. I use my car as a fast road car not a track car so ..... your call.

The facilities there are spotless, all they do is suspension. You can watch them build and asemble units while you wait. It cleaner than an operating theatre. I can't believe any general or specialist garage can match the facilities and equipment that they have. Go there if you can afford Nitrons. Ideally they like to have details of how you would like the car / suspension set up so if you can get the ideal settings from other members on this forum I would recommend you go direct to them. It cost approx £1700.00 all in.

I went the Racing Red route and am well chuffed with the results. I don't do trackdays so for me they were the sensible option for performance/cost. I considered both Nitrons and even Ohlins but with how I use my Cerb, they'd never break a sweat! The Reds are built by Nitron anyway, albeit not to the same standard of ability.
If you're still riding on the standard set up, you won't believe how much any new suspension will change your car. I was a little apprehensive when driving mine in a hurry before but now, it stays where I point it and it's much easier to drive.
If your going to use your car for trackdays in the future and think that you'll enjoy it and do more, I guess that Nitrons is the way forward. If you want some competent performance on the road network with the possibility of a track day occasionally, maybe the Reds would be a reasonable compromise?
