14 years for being a fruit, a bit harsh. Let us hope they learn their lesson and don't reoffend on release.

But UK gay rights campaigner Peter twatchell pointed out that the laws under which the pair were convicted were introduced during British colonial rule.
"These laws are a foreign imposition. They are not African," he said,
Like to point out to that knob-end that Malawi has been independent since 1964 so they've had plenty of time to change their laws."These laws are a foreign imposition. They are not African," he said,

Why is this a news item?
You don't think it's a teensy bit newsworthy that people are being locked up for 14 years purely on account of their sexual preference?
t goes down in Africa every day.Why is this national news is my question?
Iran HANGS gays regularly yet it barely gets a mention in our media.

i thought it was more shocking that that farmer woman got locked up for 18mths for waving a shot gun and exclaiming 'get arf moi larnd' when some annoying hot air balloonists landed in one of her fields. it's not like she shot them.
that's a travesty.
well that and that think about the 'utter scum' boys.
don't get me wrong i abhor this but if you do insist in staying in a second rate country like this what do you expect

Regardless of whether you're for or against their approach, is it a bit 'western superiority' that the media still seem to look down on how they run their society? As in 'johnny foreigner's not as civilised as we are, you know....'
That 65 in 1000 children die before the age of 1 in Uganda isn't newsworthy. Either because it's not new or no one will care.

I am surprised you're even suggesting 'the west' isn't superior!Regardless of whether you're for or against their approach, is it a bit 'western superiority' that the media still seem to look down on how they run their society? As in 'johnny foreigner's not as civilised as we are, you know....'

you wait we'll have some reverse superiority (inferiority??!) and next minute they'll be hosting the world cup. and woe betide anyone who comments on the state of the nation.

Sure, modern western liberals think they know what is best for Africa just like 19 th century western Imperialists.
