I played the demo the other day, and to be honest I won't be wasting my money on it. Good fun for a short period of time game. That is all though.

I’m really enjoying it.

It’s a nice contrast to the realism of Forza 3. Good for a quick, stupid bit of fun.

It’s a lot like Ridge Racer with added explosives.

I picked it up and am loving it. It reminds me of the original Burnout, but with added HUGE explosions. It doesn't have fancy game dynamics, but that isn't really the point. It's a brain off racing game.

Initial impressions from the demo are that it is slow, as if the cars are stuck in treacle and far too easy. In other words, a game for kids!

The superbike demo is awful too, bar the biffy clyro menu music.

I think it's fun too, I'd be up for getting it if the playerbase was good.
Could anyone who's got it tell me what it's like online?

I’ve only played online so far, haven’t done a single oneplayer race. The multiplayer on Xbox is simple, quick to connect and smooth. No problems whatsoever. It’s pretty basic, but I don’t really mind that. Log on, find lobby, wait for race to start, and go. At the end of each race you get to continue to another with the same folk, or exit to find a different group. Like I said: simple, no frills, fun.

I've just tried the Demo...

Eugh!!!

The physics aren't entertaining at all, it's like driving a Scalextric car...

I was hoping it would be more "Burnout", and was kinda looking forward to it when I saw the trailer a while ago...

It's a shame Burnout decided to ruin itself with it's idea of "open world" racing instead of closed circuit. Was a brilliant game beforehand.

Split second reminds me of old Burnout somewhat. Only with no boost. frown

It is not. It's made by Blackrock studios in Brighton who also made Pure last year which was quite a good quadbike stunt type game.

I'm not sure I'll be buying this though, the arcadeness is too much after an hour.

Black Rock is owned by Buena Vista games. Which is a division of Disney Interactive Studios who are also publishing the game.

I found Split Second pretty crap tbh. Its too arcadey and the destruction to throw opponents off, makes it kind of like mario kart but fails miserably at working properly tbh, i'd rather buy something like modracer nation for the ps3 (not sure of the xbox equivalent)
