BraKe pads, ebc, mintex??

I'm looking to cure the squeal from my brakes so I'm ordering new pads and the antisqueal shims. I was going to order the ebc pads as they are ceramic based fibres and I have been told they are quieter than the metallic based pads.
However I am being told they are very hard on the discs and Id be better with the mintex pads. The mintex pads are fast road/ light track pads. I'm not using my Cerbera on the track, just general road use.
My brakes work fine at the mo but the noise is driving me and every dog in the shire crazy.

Any recommendations for which pads to go for???

Depends on which EBC pads you go for...red stuff, yellow stuff, etc....try their web site for info + call them. I have EBC red stuff pads and don't have any problems but I dont do that high a mileage and no track days (so far). Also heard Mintex pads are good.

Squealing is nothing to do with the type of pads - its the metal to metal contact between the rear of what ever pad you have and the piston.

As you say...shims and / or a grease / copper slip is the way to go...?

Ferrodo DS2500. I've got them fitted to all my cars any they work brilliantly. Expensive, but worth it and they don't squeel.

Snap !....certainly Ferodo...was struggling to remember the numbers tho until you posted....fitted to the racer and the Cerb.

Mintex 1144's are cheap, under £50 a pair, and work really well on the road and lightweight track use. Very progressive, not too dusty but they overheated on me at castle coombe and warped my front disks with heavy use.

I now have Brummies Carbon Lorraine pads and new disks and they work a treat.

From what I hear the Carbone Lorraines are excellent but could throw back hot sparks which could burn into your paintwork - Waiting to be corrected. Ferrodo ds2500 maybe what I may choose because like you I am not a trackday addict and I'm fairly easy on brakes for the most part. Haven't yet had a problem with brakes fading or otherwise on the road.
