Guys,
Any recomendations of a worthwhile manual or rebuild book for a Ford Flathead V8? I'm looking for anything to look through as I need to get my knowledge up to scratch before I tackle the rusty old beast!

Will give you a good idea although all they're trying to do is sell you stuff (i.e. "Our deluxe nut holder tray will hold your nuts in place...")

Search on youtube for their stuff... You might want their engine rebuild/refurb DvD's you might not but at least they specialise in V8's.

Nice site, however I can't see anything about 1940s Flathead Ford V8s.... they are rather special.

Try a works manual for the Ford V8 Pilot. There wil be extensive build details avalble within, but it depends on the type, though i think in principle they are the simular.22 and 30hp english versions and the US,mercury. I beleive that was fitted also to the bren gun carrier, which is a 4.2, the Pilot is a 3.6.I have built one some years back. Ther was a guy , name of Wally Wheatley over in matching green essex, who had all the parts needed for no money. Nordian , was the company name. Not sure if e still is around

How about a Chiltern workshop manual for anything that was originally built with that particular engine. I bought one for my 67 Camaro & it had all the basic information needed.

Haven't heard of Wally for years...don't know if he's still around or not?

Talk to Billy at North American Motor Company in Aldershot, he'll either have a manual for sale or can get you one.
