I'm wondering if the rules are different if you resign as opposed to are made redundant
I have just done the same, I resigned but then relocated. They told me I may not be able to get JSA , you do get asked about the situation with leaving and then they decide from there, you would be able to apply for a reconsideration if it goes against you.

On this topic, does anyone know what my dad should be getting paid? He has been made redundant and is looking for work but obviously he has a house and wife to keep (well she is keeping him actually)
If she works more than 16 hours a week, he'll get £64.30 a week for 6 months, then nothing after that. Thats what happened when my old man was made redundant after 20 years of employment. My mum worked 20 hours a week, but they both had to live on that. ended up having to sell the house and downgrade just to keep supporting themselves.Alf Alfa said:

As for applying, telephone asap. They won't backdate it, but they will start it from the day you make the phone call. You might also be able to apply for Housing Benefit if you rent, Council Tax benefit and Child Benefit if you have a child. They are separate applications and you need to as for forms to make those applications asap as well. "They" say they might backdate it, but unless you have been in a coma, it isn't going to happen!
