www.u-pull-it.co.uk has anyone used them? quite interested to get some parts for a project i am considering. looks simple enough, you buy the rights to descend on the car armed with spanners and strip what you can in 7 hours for a set price? would be looking at panels mostly to easily repair any damage sustained on track... but whats the catch?...

Looks like you strip what you can in 7 hours and then pay for what you take off.

Probably the bonnet!

It'll be welded shut and there's not way you can open it!

It's probably more expensive than heading to a normal scrap yard and doing a bit of negotiating...

Just done a quick search for a Merc 190 1989 ,2 in York £400&375 plus VAT!So go on Ebay buy a runner for spares and you'll be spending less than the above and you won't be working against the clock.Plus sell whats left.So U-Pull-It doesn't look like a cheap way to obtain spares to me.

Only if you want specific bits. Otherwise you buy the whole car & what you can get off in 7 hours is yours.

If you buy one off ebay, couldn't getting rid of the bits that no one wants (chassis, dented panels etc) would be quite expensive and end up costing more?

I think the price of scrap is Ok at the moment so you might actually sell the shell, if not most councils will take them away for nothing. Ebay is great for getting rid of parts which are serviceable but not required.
