As I was driving home tonight I noticed a VOSA van and several guys in yellow jackets flagging a couple of vans into a layby, just curious but what are they checking, I'm guessing it's not tacho's as they were small vans, so it it MOT's Tax and looking for red diesel?

They usually stick to commercial stuff, trucks tend to get dragged to a weighbridge, and the tacho checked, builder-y vans and pick-ups will most likely get their tank dipped

They pulled me for a tyre check amongst hundreds of other cars on the A64 , must have been attracted by the yellow, like insects. Had a extremely large torch that would not fit under the car biggrin Tossers

They're looking for immigrants tangled up in the undercarriage.

On trucks and vans VOSA will check tax, tacho's, vehicle condition (they do a mini MOT test) and weights if they are near a weighbridge. If it's a major operation they may have C&E with them to check diesel and sometimes there are people from the HM Work and Pensions department (or whatever it's called) checking that no one is on benefits and also working when they shouldn't be.
They also pull cars if they feel like it so no one is safe from them.
