Bugatti Veyron vs Nissan GT-R R35

Surely you can't compare a heavily modified car to a standard production car?
Agreed it's not a proper comparison, but I think it's fair game when you consider the many multiples of the GTR that the Veyron costs. In any case, the 2 target markets of the cars are pretty different.

Is it me or are you tube drag race video production values going through the roof? What an excellent video!
I like the way that putting your hazard lights on makes drag racing on the street ok, I guess its like when you put your hazards on on double yellow lines and your car turns invisible

I saw an old Fifth Gear this morning, the Veryon only laps the 'burg 10 seconds or so quicker than the GTR.
what's "the 'burg" ???I assume you mean the Nurburgring, but i thought everyone just called it "the 'ring" ...

The nissan and the bug probably cost about the same to develop. The Gtr is a sort of scaled down veyron in a way.
Sorry but do you really think so?I love the GTR, it is THE performance bargain at the moment. But to compare it to the Veyron?
Duncan
Certainly IMO the Bug is closer to the ethos of the Nissan than the oft compared McLaren.
The vid is great though. Russia obviously. As for comparign a clearly modified car to a standard one. Normally I frown upon that, but given the price differences and the GTR appears far from stripped out. It's an interesting case.

Maybe I'm being simplistic here, but all I saw was the Veyron walking away from the GTRs.
I wouldn't say it walked away from them. Given the Veyrons ability to utterly demolish almost anything on the road in a straight line (as you would expect with 1000bhp, 16l and 4 turbos), i think it was more a demonstration showing the straightline performance gap could be shrunk significantly with a modified GTR.The video comparing the GTR's against the ZZR1400 shows just how fast they are in a straight line. I know from experiance just how fast a ZZR1400 is in a straight line, and it takes something with serious oomph to out drag what is essentially a mildly comfortable superbike

Which is something quite irrelevant no? As the gap could then be substantially extended with a modified Veyron.Dracoro said:

I wonder how a tuned GTR would do against a Veyron on a race track.
