Ford GT No 61: worth supporting!!
Discussion
For those of you who are unsure who to support in GT1 (shame on you for not supporting the Aston...) you might want to consider the Ford GT number 61. In case you're interetsed, the three drivers are:
Natacha GACHNANG

Rahel FREY

and Cyndie ALLEMANN

In this:

I belive the expression is "phwoarrr!"

Which one of them was it that crashed so badly at the first round of the GT1 world championship that she was hospitalised and the car was still out of action for the next round at Silverstone 3 weeks later?
it was natacha who crashed and suffered a broken leg. kind of makes the drivers parade a must do dont you think. cameras ready!!Mattt said:
I was there the day after the crash, what was the actual cause? I heard various things from brake failure, to throttle jam, or her hitting the throttle when braking.
At the braking point at the end of the straight Natacha started braking as normal. A leak was reported in the rear brake circuit which required Natacha to press back hard on the brake. When putting pressure on the brake pedal Natacha's foot unfortunately also pressed the accelerator pedal. The front brake circuit continued to function correctly but the combination of factors led to Natacha failing to negotiate the corner and going down the escape road, hitting the safety barriers and it is thanks to the safety and security devices on the vehicle that Natacha avoided the worst.....I don't quite see the reasoning behind having them behind the wheel, didn't do great in yesterdays' practice either.
Fair enough, at least she kept it straight and used as much grip and tarmac as she could.
Unlike some Emirati at a track day at Yas, who 'apparently' suffered brake failure (but the investigation proved otherwise), and instead of using the large run off area, tried turning the wheel - and smacked straight into the barriers, flipping over the top.

No 61 Matech Competition Ford GT has gone off at the Porsche Curves. It was being driven by Rahel Frey and hit the wall going backwards, the rear wing flew off but it was not a serious impact.
This was after the No 60 went off at the same place, wait for the rain that is expected.
It seems that the No60 Ford GT locked up its brakes (again) as it went into the Porsche Curves and spun through the gravel trap hitting the ‘armco’ barriers backwards at some speed. The car didn’t appear to be too badly damaged when it returned to the pits.
