Purge valve carbon canister

Anyone got rid of the purge valve and carbon canister ?? I would rather fit a charcoal filter at the tank end for venting the tank, anyone done this ? after fitting the Emerald the purge valve is no longer used was all this for emissions ??

I run my purge valve from the Emerald on my car, do a search and it's explained somewhere . . . Sorry, short of time Nigel.

If you want to keep it standard then as said the Emerald will run the purge solenoid. To me however the simpler solution seemed to be to let the tank breath to atmosphere and take the whole contraption, its wires and pipes out. Simply seems to be a load of extra weight to carry about for no obvious benefit. It is simply bolted to the back of the blanking plate where the two pipes enter the driver side wing. The bottom screw is a bit challenging with the rad in place.

I was considering the removal as no longer needed - I love the environment and all that, but I'm sure that a few more petrol vapours won't hurt.

Where did you leave the vent pipe? Just cut short from the tank?
