The finale of Ashes to Ashes was the end of the storyline, the people behind the show have said there won't be sequel and I for one hope there isn't either.

Gene was reading a Mercedes brochure at the end of last night's show. From what I could see it was a 190D ! Hardly the most aspirational car in the 80's. The 190D was a taxi in some parts of Europe !
The E series as a whole is a taxi in most of Europe.Gun said:

I loved Ashes to Ashes, but I can't see them doing a new series, now the twist has been revealed it wouldn't be the same, I suspect the new arrival was shown to show Gene still had a job and a purpose, it wouldn't have been such a good ending if Gene had been left alone and carless. Also a new series would want to be forward in time again and the 90's/ 00's is too recent.
On the car front, a 190D would be a shade dull for Gene but maybe he has matured a little, or he couldn't get a brochure on the 190E Cosworth, bearing in mind since the twist cars don't have to be 100% correct on release date or affordability.
