Almost witnessed a fatal accident

Just on my way home having popped to the shops in horsell, turned off the roundabout down littlewick road, and came up behind a learner doing maybe 30 in a 60. I thought about overtaking but thought better of it as visibility of the road ahead wasn't perfect, a few driveways ahead, and a poor road surface. Anyway the learner slows down and indicates to pull into one of the driveways. She slows right down and takes her time, despite the lack of oncoming traffic. While she is doing this I hear a car behind accelerating hard, and look to my horror to see a porsche cayman, coming very fast overtaking maybe 4 cars in total. The learner is just starting to make the turn. I'm already on the horn, not wanting to look at what is going to happen. But the cayman driver realises what is happening, and slams the brakes on just as he draws up to me but was going too quick to stop in time, and some how squeezes through the gap and misses the learner before flooring it up the road again. I caught up with the cayman driver further up the road, and he was not hanging about, he must have thought I was following him. I dread to think what would have happened if she had turned sooner. 
Who was at fault though? I suspect it would perhaps be the learner as she didn't double check for cars overtaking. But then the overtake by the porsche was just stupid, so impatient and far to fast.

I just so happened to go the same way home as him and saw him pull into his drive, he looked a little scared when he realised it was me, the same car that blew the horn. I tried to look all menacing, but you can't really when you drive and orange skoda. ker could have been a real nasty one.

Cayman driver. I assume the learner was indicating. You are supposed to check for these kind of things before making an overtake (I know none of us are perfect. Least of all me!).If there was no indication that is different. But I imagine most people might twig this is not the best time to make a full bore overtake even so.

I have seen this sort of accident happen coincidentally round the corner on Littlewick Road going from the garden centre to Knaphill.
Yep seen a few, and also been on the recieving end of one.. a tt in a z3 went straight into the back of me!!! The stupid bh was to busy on the phone when we all stopped as a car was turning right into a drive.

I was at the other end of a very similar incident about 10 years ago. I was driving from the Finchampstead monument down The Ridges towards Crowthorne. As I came to the last bend before the downhill straight I came behind 2 cars (Merc CL600 in front and a big 4x4 behind) driving slowish - about 40mph. I slowed and stayed behind them for a bit as I didn't know why they were driving slow. After 100 yards of so they slowed even more so I pulled out enough to see the indicators of the lead car - it wasn't indicating so I thought they must be pulling in to the carpark for Simons Wood on the left so decided to overtake them. As I was pretty much next to the 4x4 the Merc started indicating and turning right into a private entrance at the same time! I saw this and braked hard, turned the wheel trying to turn into the same turning to avoid him that way. I failed and hit him with the front left corner and the car slid sideways into him so I ended up with damage down the whole left side.
That accident went down as being my fault. The driver of the 4x4 was an employee of the Merc driver (which wasn't admitted on the claim forms) and they both said that the Merc was indicating well in advance of turning and that I was clearly speeding (there is no way I was even doing 50mph). I tried to argue that the Merc driver hadn't made his manouvre correctly i.e. if he had checked his mirrors before turning he'd have seen me, but it didn't help.
I was angry about it at the time but now I just see it as part of a learning curve.

A while ago I was nearly T-boned by an idiot over-taking. I was indicating to turn right well in advance of my turn, and him and his mate were flying down the outside effectively racing each other in their chav'd up hatchbacks. As I turned I heard a huge skid so slammed on the brakes which meant he missed the front of my new £45k car by millimetres. Ashamed in hindsight to admit that the red mist came down and I chased him down, overtook and forced him to stop, at which point I got out and put my glasses on the roof of my car; before hauling him out of his car. (and at that point we will draw a quiet veil over events)
