What are scrap cars worth these days?
Discussion
I have a bit of a dilema. My old Saab 9-5 is sitting in the garage sans MOT or road tax with a blown turbo. Advice seems to be not to bother replacing the turbo unless I go for a new one. So I'm considering scrapping it but what's the deal these days?
Do they come to you and how much do scrap cars normally go for? I'm gutted to scrap her as she has new tyres on the back with less than 200 miles on them and everything else is ok. Problem is it's worth about £500-700 fixed and with 12 months MOT as it has 128k on the clock and a scratched up bumper.
Bangernomics is not working for me...
oh and it's a 2nd car so not really needed any more

Break it for spares.
my 850 T5 recently blew it's head gasket and I decided it wasn't worth fixing due to other possible pending issues. The local scrappy offered me £140 if I weighed it in, I broke the car for spares and to date that has returned over 500 quid and I still have a mountain of smaller parts to ebay. I still got over £100 scrap for the body.
