Ive been having a few issues with my e36 328i. When its cold, it makes a beep, which atfer scaring me the first time, i found out is to let me know its beloc 3c. Now ive got a new one, which is 3 beeps in succession, in the same tone etc. The only problem is, ive no idea wtf it is.
All the dash warning lights are off, ASC isnt buggered, the computer check thing says everythings ok, so i havent a clue wtf it is
The other one is theres a knock coming from the front, im pretty sure left hand side. Now i dont think its the track rod ends, the steerings fine, no uneven tyre wear that i can see, so any other ideas? its been getting slightly worse these past few weeks, and i think it might be a bush in one of the suspension arms.

Is the memo function on? That creates hourly bongs.
The best way to check the suspension is to have a mechanic check it on a ramp. When the rubber of a bushing goes it can cause too much movement and the knocking of metal parts together.
A mechanic will easily tell with a torch and a large screwdriver if the rubber has perished.

If its the memo one, thats awsome, easy to sort. Also means i should stop pressing buttons and just leave stuff alone 
As for the mechanic thing, thats sort of my plan, except do it myself, as i dont trust mechanics, and im trying to save money. Would it be possible to do it by jacking up the corner and having a wiggle round, or would i need a 4 post ramp? Ive got access to one, just its not free, and hard to get time to use it.

Most people think it's purely to let you know that the news is about to come on the radio on the hour (The bongs should sound 15 seconds before the hour) but you can set it to sound every hour at whatever time you want,The on the hour reminder is merely the factory set time.
From the owners manual:
Programming a reminder signal
Press the MEMO key for approx. 3 seconds until the left display reads: INPUT MEMO.
Conclude the numerical input by pressing the SET/RES key.
