Bored of my A6 - I have had it 6 months, after all.

Need a diesel that does min. 40mpg or petrol min. 30mpg. Must be less than £10K, less than 6 years old by the time I get rid of it, and less than 160K miles at the end too. Prefer estate as I need to carry the dog around sometimes.

Currently have an A6 2.0tdi Avant - 56 plate, 112K so I could keep this another 12-18 months and stay within the company car allowance criteria. I do about 30K/year.

Just fancy a change but I've had 3 A4s, a 3-series, a V70, a Passat, and now this.

RWD not really much option given that where I live is at the top of a steep hill and seeing as FWD won't cope a lot of the time when it has snowed.

Any ideas folks? Or stick with what I have.

Not quite sure I follow this logic. You are willing to ignore what may be the perfect car for you on the basis that for 5 days of a year, it may be tricky to get up your hill (leave the car near the bottom of the hill? or even better, winter tyres?).

No, where I live it persists a lot longer than places even a mile away. I'm not arguing about this, just take it from me it has been a royal pain in the arse every year since we moved to this house on several occasions each winter. We get snowed in regularly in which case we have to resort to a 4x4 Octavia.

There is one main route through our village which quickly becomes impassable. a series of hills include one huge one several miles away regularly cause problems. Hard to imagine unless you live here, but sometimes 4x4 is the only way (and I'm not ignoring FWD on this basis, therefore only RWD is pretty much out).

I can't see the point in spending money changing something boring for something equally boring, because you will be bored of it in 5 mins anyway. If you think you might have time to get the use out of it, then maybe a weekend car might do you more good?

Already got a Mk2 Escort to play about with at weekends! I want something a bit more fun for during the week.

Alfa 159 Sportwagon.

Like this: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2010...

I opted out and bought a saloon, now up to 100K with greater durability and more exclusivity than my old A4...
