Forgive me if this is a repost, but just in case...

I never knew that most cars have an indicator within the fuel gauge that tells you which side of the car the fuel filler cap is.

Meh. More often than not I end up filling up on the 'wrong' side of the pumps anyway.

It`s not suprising you didn`t know - did you read the article ? It says it is an urban myth .

It says "Ford, Volkswagen, Toyota and Nissan all said their modern vehicles had such an indicator".

It's something i'll start looking for. smile

Someone debunked this a while ago - apparently it's not always the nozzle of the pump but there's a little arrow next to it showing where the cap is.

I took this on Friday as it was so bloody hot. Coincidentally you can also see the little arrow next to the petrol pump.

My TT didn't have an arrow but the nozzle in this case pointed to the side of the cap.

However my friend's F40 has the petrol nozzle on the right hand side of the pump, and the cap is on the left hand side of the car.

I always fill up using the pump on the opposite side to the filler cap. 1. there is free petrol in the bend of the hose. 2. Women and idiots always look at you as if you have just killed thier puppy, if you sail into an empty bay while they are all queing up like mugs for the "right" bay.

Yeah, if you don't mind taking your time, go from pump to pump and just take the petrol from the bend and you can fill up your tank for free!

Madala, it doesn't matter because the hose will reach both sides of the car.

Lol I don't see the issue really!
If the petrol station is exceptionally busy, I don't mind which side I go on, just stretch the pump over to the other side, I've seen countless people do it too...

Then you clearly don't care about the paintwork of your car and so cannot be a pistonhead member any more, hand in your keyboard and never darken our website again.

I do it too biggrin
