When buying a Laborghini: advice needed
Discussion
I've been thinking sinking my hard earned money into Diablo and was curious at to what sort of service history to look out for. Some cars are 10 years and older and if low mileage (say 10,000 miles) would you expect more than just a few stamps in the service book and a couple of receipts even though they have spent most of their life in storage? Any help would be appreciated
71 months? Time flies when you having fun ... and thanks for the welcome. No rush .... I've never purchased an old car with low mileage so am not sure what to look out for or what to expect to find in the service history.

my diablo is a 97 and has covered around 7500 miles, i'm the 2nd owner and it has fsh, a mixture of lambo and specialist and on average has a service every 2 years due to the low mileage, i can only speak for my own but the history file has all mot's and tax discs, also all of the invoices and paperwork, to read it isn't very interesting to be honest the srvice bills mainly list parts and the odd extra job carried out, replace bulb, repair starter motor(a usual problem as they get too hot by the manifold)etc etc, you should get as much paperwork as possible particularly service invoices as stamps are easy to copy, mot's are usefull but they are also available online just google "mot info" to do the checks on any car you see, people say little used cars can be trouble but mine starts 1st time every time and has never let me down so i wouldn't personally worry about lowish miles even on a lambo, you'll get the right feeling when you find a good car, luckily i knew the owner of mine from new.

It has to be said that the engine in the Diablo is pretty unburstable unless it has been seriously, and I mean seriously, abused. Considering that it started off as a 4 litre unit, and is now at 6.7 litres in it's latest incarnation says a lot.
If your close to Mike, have a word with him. He gave me a lot of valuable help and advice when I was looking for my first Lamborghini, and I still talk to him now if I have questions about the cars that I am not sure of.

Thanks for the response everyone but I'm back with more questions. See there is a Diablo SE30 up for sale which seems quite rare - would this be a car you would find yourself (a) not using because you wouldn't want to rack up the miles or (b) because it would be too uncomfortable (especially in summer) without a/c (I'm not sure you would ever need a radio unless of course you waiting for the tow truck)?
The other alternative would be the 6.0 VT but again not too many around - seen two and not sure about their history. I much prefer the look of the 2001 car with the open headlamp and the larger air intakes but is the SV a more rewarding car to drive than the VT and therefore should I ignore the looks?
