Audio CD/Radio Problem

I've not long got my first car; 2002 Ford Fiesta.
I've noticed that some of the buttons on the stereo does not work.
The nob for the volume works, and the switch it on/off.
Apart from that pretty much none of the buttons work.
I've taken the radio out and checked the wiring etc, and it seems to be fine.
Parents have also had a look at it but can't find out anything.
So have any of you lot got any help or suggestions of what could be wrong?
