That would be nice. Hopeful thinking

Imagine a world of no speed cameras, just roads where people had to use skill to drive. Would this drive the fannies off our roads in cars and back onto busses where they belong? Would the days of doing thirty in the outside lane of a sixty designated dual carriage way be over?

I WISH !!!

I think airbags should be replaced with a spike that launches itself into the driver.
That way EVERYONE would drive alot more carefully/ the fannies will be driven back onto their buses, if they haven't been killed off first.

I am in a morbid mood tonight.

I have no issues with "fixed" speed cameras in the right places. E.g. schools or busy town centres. Infact sometimes i think that provided we are given enough notice, with MASSIVE signs that are visible at night too, average speed cameras like they have going into nottingham would be a good thing. It forces everyone to drive within the limit for what i think are good reasons. Lots of people, lots of junctions etc.

But only in built up areas.

I think ALL vans should be instantly banned and set alight. Because they are the worst way of enforcing speed limits known to man. Absolutely insane. And they are just used irresponsibly. Around corners on down slopes and behind railings or in off road laybays where i live.

I was following at audi Q7 driver this weekend, doing about 50 in a 60 and then about 35 in a 40. Driving really steady basically. I had the sat nav on which beeped at me about a camera. It wasn't visible as it was around a corner behind the pillar of a railway bridge. Only visible at the last second and the slow Q7 driver got flashed for something like 35 in a 30. The same driver that drove so "slow" and smoothly for the past 5 miles.

It's a joke.

If they couldnt spot a large bright yellow box and all the road markings that go with it, the Q7 driver musnt have been paying any attention to the road, if the camera had been a child and the Q7 had hit it, there would be another statistic that would "prove" that speed kills!

Q7 driver failed to make adequate progress (I would have failed if I did below 55 in a 60 on my test back in '89) and then didn't pay attention to a 30 and got nobbled.

And it was a pointless 4x4 on top which is a result if you ask me with my warped hatred for bling trucks.

I want more speed cameras!!!!!

Every f....g speed hump should be replaced by one!
If the speed limit is 20, why do I have to slow down to 10mph every 50 yards???

I thought they'd already done a u-turn on this last week, according to the Telegraph.
