Hi folks,

I test drove a 323 CI yesterday and was surprised (shocked?) at how hard it was to depressed the throttle. I really had to push very hard for it to move and ended up stalling it a couple of times. The seller said this was normal (don't they all?), but I don't believe that. 12 years ago I owned a new Z3 2.8 and it's throttle pedal was nothing like that at all.

Would welcome the thoughts of other owners/drivers please!

Cheers!

Change the throttle cable , an easy and cheap job , around £10.00 for the part from BMW , a very common problem with all RHD E46 323 amd 328 cars from 98 -> 00. Every one I have owned has needed one of these changing .

Yup, really takes away from the experience. As far as I'm aware early E39's had the same issue too.

Had the same issue with a number of E46 cars (X-reg to 51 plate)... and the same issue with my current E46 318i....although the problem seems to have started going away since i bought it....

Would anyone know how much the labour charge for installing this cable would be?

My brother had his changed on his 328Ci. It was about £40 labour.
