Morning All,

I'm looking for a nice little 5dr hatch as a treat for my Mother in law. She currently has a Mazda Demio and i'm looking at Yaris, Swift etc just wondered if anyone had any suggestions.

She doesn't want any bigger than a 1.3, must have 5 doors, decent boot but small enough to park, budget of about £12k.

Any deals/offers anyone has heard about?

Thanks

Have a look at Kia. I know it's not very PH but since my brother has been working for them I've got to drive lots of them. And I've been seriously impressed with them. Much better than Vauxhalls and I'd say better and nicer than a friends new shape SEAT Ibiza.

They all have 7 year warranties too and residuals seem surprisingly good too.

The Soul is physically the same size as a Corsa, but looks bigger. Is nice and airy inside and go well but are bigger 1.6 engines. There is a new smaller car (forget what it's called, only been out about 4 weeks). Looks really rather good and has a 1.4 litre engine and good spec.

I keep banging the same drum when this one comes up......

Mazda2? My Mum has a 1.5 Sport, which was bloody good value for money, well spec'd, drives well and in the year or so she's had it, has only been back to the dealer for a service....

Hers was only about 12.5k, but the range starts at about 9k I think.

Mazda 2 was the automatic progression from the Demio but only comes with 3 doors.

The Hyundai i10 always seems to get praise from the motoring journos.

KIA Venga. That's the one I couldn't recall the name of. It's on the KIA homepage at the bottom on the left. Brand new model and worth a look IMO.

Yeah, someone I know has a 5 door Mazada 2 and says its great. Cheap, fun to drive and very economical because its light. Less than a tonne I believe!

I'm having a serious case of the stupids today, yes they obviously do a 5dr and i've no idea why I didn't see it the first time!

Going to have a look at Hyundai i20, Kia and Mazda this afternoon.

Thanks

A good Suzuki Swift 1.3 Second hand will probably only cost about £7k. Plenty of equipment, happy engine, very solidly built!
