I have a '98 1.8 Mk2. I have great problems getting fuel in the car - ie. the fuel tank pipe offers enough resistance to the petrol flow that when using modern petrol pumps the automatic pump cut-off engages instantly. At some garages I can struggle to get any fuel in at all, at others it can take 10/15 minutes of dribbling the fuel in to get a full tank.

I'm aware this is a known problem, although quite a rare one - I just wondered if anyone had come up with a solution?

Make sure the nozzle is all the way in to the stop and have it angled towards the front i.e. so the pipe comes over the boot to the nozzle (if that makes sense).
If that fails to help then I believe there were a batch of faulty filler necks that cause a problem that should have been fixed by a Mazda Service Bulletin - not sure if it was actually a recall. You should be able to fix it with a replacement from a different year of Mk2.

Cheers. I have tried every single possible angle and position for both the nozzle and hoze and it does absolutely no good.

Do you know the exact name of the part and is it a relatively easy fix? Looks like I'll be on Ebay tonight searching out breaking Mk2's. Do you know if it definately needs to be a Mk2, or would a Mk2.5 be the same?

Thanks
