Supercharger replacing.
Discussion
As my car has recently passed the 100k milestone the original supercharger is starting to make a new noise. I think its the bearings.
The guys at MAD4MINI believe its either the alternator or the supercharger but massively favour it being a supercharger issue.
Now there was/is a guy called Mr Fast on Mini-torque who was buying up chargers. I believe to refurb / sell on, to MX5 owners.
Does anyone know if he is also refurbing for refitting to Mini's? Has anyone done this? (I'd approach the guy direct but I dont want to come across as a newb)
OR am I best off getting a part worn charger from a low mileage scrapped Cooper S as suggested by the garage. Again, has anyone done this?

Now is that the M45 Eaton with the Teflon coating?
I've only been delving into it this week, and Mini-torque was a bit "beardy" for my knowledge.
Well I sold it so can't tell you but later ones were coated in teflon to avoid the fry up sticking I've only been delving into it this week, and Mini-torque was a bit "beardy" for my knowledge.
the chap bying it was very pleased with himself about obtaining a virtually new supercharger with the teflon.Eviltad said:

MT isn't beardy, they just know their stuff
Great bunch of guys, certainly not beardy!Eviltad said:
Whats the JCW one like? where did you source it and has it made much difference?
JCW ones just have an 11% smaller pulley on so create more boost. All the JCW ones were teflon coated, whereas the standard 'S' ones were only teflon coated from 2004 onwards.Edited by hyperblue on Thursday 27th May 22:07
