GORDON BROWN 'FIRST CHOICE' FOR TOP JOB AT IMF

IMF: Gordon Brown says he wants to cut poverty
GORDON Brown wants one of the world’s most important economic jobs as head of the International Monetary Fund, according to his closest school friend.

Tom Brown said that his 59-year-old pal believes he has “one big job left in him”.

And IMF insiders are thought to consider the former Prime Minister the ideal candidate to take over when France’s Dominique Strauss-Kahn’s term ends in 2012.

Gordon Brown reportedly turned down a chance to head the organisation several years ago because he wanted to become PM.

Has no one at the IMF been looking at the UK for 13 years?

He was lined up for the job a while back, but turned it down to be PM.

I was hoping that emigrating from the EU might get me away from the Olympic mascot inspiration, but it appears that I should now be volunteering for the first lunar colony instead!

Sorry to take this off topic already, but how does the IMF raise money itself, presumably by applying a levy to other countries not in economic trouble to help out those that are. Seeing as most of the world largest western style economies seem to be skint, who is going to fund the IMF, China, I presume Norway and Switzerland couldn't manage it on their own.

Are we going to end up taking loans from Afghan poppy farmers, in order to buy the equipment to destroy their crops, or will we be relying on tinpot third world dictators who have squirelled away billions in aid we've given them over the years to prop us up now.

That was pre-election i believe? Now that he has been ousted , the selfish one eyed tt had revealed his true colours.

Really? Really? I guess that shows what a sorry state the IMF is in if it considers that fiscal f**kwit to be a candidate.

Ah so that's what he meant when he kept saying he was "getting on with the job".

If Gordo gets into the IMF in any position will he do as he did here and spend the money faster than it comes in? What happens when the IMF goes bust is there a SMF, UMF or GMF?

I'd like to think Gordo has fked up again and he's negotiated himself a post - perhaps by selling of all Mrs Brown's gold - on the board of the well known peddlers of flat-pack MDF tat furniture, MFI. Sadly, they've gone bust, but don't anyone tell him.

Surely there's a massive conflict of interest here? If Britain finds itself needing an IMF bailout he might withhold it to protect his 'legacy'.
