Im trying to find out whether one testing station can see the previous test fail details, from another testing station? I presumed so, as a simple VOSA site enquiry shows me everything: but a testing station are adamant that they cant see the vehicles previous results and details when theyre conducting a test. As this station have been caught lying (claiming that they didnt test the car, when I have the fail details in front of me) and are more than deserving of a VOSA complaint; then I am inclined not to believe them.

The benefit of your experience would be appreciated.

I am not an MOT tester but take cars for tests every week, and in my experience they can and do see previous fail data. If I forget to take a fail sheet, they look up on the computer for a re-test, so once the details are entered, it is there for all to see.

You can lookup previous MOTs here for ones that were done since it was computerised.

http://motinfo.direct.gov.uk/internet/jsp/ECHID-In...

It doesn't show the actual results, but it tells you where the MOT was, whether it passed or failed (and why) and what, if any, advisory notes were issued.

If you're buying a 2nd hard car it can be useful to check to compare any MOT notes to invoices for work done.
