trade in opinion

just a quick question, i am after getting a new ps3 i.e. the slim version but the missus will flip if i go out and buy one so was thinking of doing an exchange...

so do you think i can exchange a wii plus wii fit and rechargable controllers plus a couple of games *and* xBox 360 with 2 controllers and couple of games.. think that has rechargable thing with it as well.. i don't have boxes for either of them apart from for the wii fit i think..

What do you think how close does that get me ?

I think you would probably still need to put some cash towards it, you would almost certainly be better off selling them if possible.

I also think you are stark raving mad for considering it.

well i never use either of them and can't see the advantage of having 2 different consoles and therefore having to have duplicate games... the time i get to play games i prefer the playstation.

the other question being that if i have 2 playstations do they talk to each other ? i.e. transfer data between the 2 ?

Fair enough, I'm the opposite, my PS3 is really just a shiney collector of dust.

If you have 2 you can link them via a LAN, for multiplayer.

I think you're doing the right thing, no point in having them sat there if they don't get used. We had a Wii for 18 months, used 3 times, Ebayed. Perhaps call your local CEX (if you have one), Game, & Gamestation and see if they can give you an idea of the trade-in values over the phone.

You can transfer data between two PS3's but not over the network, you'd have to use usb keys or something. It's a bit crude, but possible. Depends what your ultimate goal is.

right... well was hoping to have one in the kitchen and then one in the lounge. And say if i level up on one maching the next time i log in on the other it will know that... i am thinking about multiplayer but suppose that goes on your psn so would be fine ? Speaking of which would i need 2 psn log in's ?

the other thought was buying movies, can i transfer those between machines.. but guess i would need the usb like you say

Why do you think you are going to use the PS3 more when you haven't used the others? What type of games are you playing? and are you looking at playing on line? Because I think you are missing out on XBL if you haven't tried it.

well at the minute i play MW2 most of the time... have ordered red dead but not started it yet. the issue is that if the missus or littun wants to watch the TV i can't play on the playstation, and refuse to keep having to buy double copies and then having to level up twice ! Would be easier if i could just seemlessly move to anouther room and carry on the game

Use the Xbox and just take the hard-drive from one machine to another, thats what I do when I go and see the other half and she is watching soaps.

All your trophies and stuff are stored on PSN, so if you login with the same ID on both machines (not sure if you can do this concurrently) you will have the trophies. But, game progress and other game data files are stored locally on each PS3. So, it might be a bit unpredictable.

I've never bought a movie through PSN. But, if you have any downloaded ones you could always use a media-streaming device.
