A colleague and I, when discussing 'ring weaponry came up with the following formula for a good, budget solution:

RWD/AWD, lightweight, turbo and <£2K

Any RX7 at this price, IF you can find one, will not make it there, never mind around!

Celica GT4, Impreza Turbo, MR2 Turbo if it has to have a turbo, but ultimately you should go in THIS

There is a few knocking on 2k.

Trailer there and one lap. Still would probably be one of the fastest choices.

The Mk4 Escort RS Turbo on that page looks nice, but the best match to the OP's criteria would be a 200SX or Impreza.

Nice suggestions. I had a blown MX5 on my list but AFAIK they never did a factory one and I don't reckon you'd find a modded one for the price.

Did they make a blown MK1 MR2 or just MK2?

Wasn't sure a 200SX was available for that kind of money but it's a decent addition to the list.

Yep theres a supercharged one, but I doubt you'd pick up a good one for 2k.

yesA S/C one, but it wasn't officially imported here.

TBH a N/A MX5 or MR2 would be my choice. You don't need more power on a circuit you don't know well IMO.

They did (well done at the dealers really) but they tend to be a fair bit over £2k unless you get a very bad example.

They did a supercharged mk1 (import only) but they are rare and a bit above your budget.

you will easily get a rev2 (1992-1993) MR2 turbo for that money. You cant up the boost as much as later models, but for 2k you cant complain about 220bhp and RWD.

If its just for the ring, strip it and you will shed quite a few KGs.
