A sad picture.. but what a car it was..
Discussion
..in its day.. 0-60 5.8 seconds.. 230 bhp, only 30 ever made.
I've just been sent this as in my quest for Turbo bits someone thought some of this car could be useful to me, so took a photo of it. Originally they thought they had an an S Series with some aftermarket bits but it turned out to be something a bit different..
All a bit far gone I suspect (?), and not the right engine for me, but I thought I'd share the photo of what was once a real Supercar in what will sadly be its final resting place I suppose..

Unfortunately this car is the subject of the sad "green" attitude of an insurance company. It has to be destroyed by a professional salvage company because of the "dangerous substances which will be released into the atmosphere as a result of the wiring loom having been on fire".
What a load of c**p and what a tragedy that the car has been destroyed for such a pandering to political correctness excuse. sTeVeR

That will be released?? As you say, what a load... I would imagine it was released when the loom was on fire... it's perfectly fine to pull it all out and replace it now. Insurance companies are idiots.
As an aside, what exactly was/is it? I know a turbo TVR, S-series of some sort, but Matt mentioned only 30 made... Any more info?
That's really unfortunate.

Taimar.
Turbo M series cars were available late 70's in either Coupe (3000M) Convertible (3000S) or Hatchback (Taimar) style. Peter Wheeler has one, he liked it so much he bought the company!
Matt, this side looks okay - the other side looks bad.

Yeah.. the breakers said something about not being allowed to sell it on as a car or something... I reckon you could twist their arm to sell you all the bits assembled though
..it would end up as a Cat B car I guess.
The other side isn't that bad either actually... interior and the rest is all fine its just the engine fire that killed it.. and they 've got a non turbo in the yard too with a good bonnet too..

I'll give them £250 for it - what's their phone number?
They do know its one of only 30 cars you know..
From their point of view I suppose they've got to consider what they are likely to get for the interior, dials, wheels etc on a scrap basis and weigh that up against an offer..
If anyones interested, speak to Ian Pitfield on 01257 472866 (its at Douglas Valley Breakers)
And mines a pint if you get it..
Cheers
Matt.
One of only 30 Taimar Turbos built, but one of 9 that have been written off that I know of...
I was only interested in the spares, but as soon as you mentioned 'Douglas Valley' I suddenly became disinterested
The vultures have already been at it, notice that the passenger window frame has gone.. Ah well.
