Virgin Media/NTL cabling..............
Discussion
Just noticed whilst watering my plants that I have a new cable going across the front of my house. My new neighbours have cleary gone Virgin Media but the VM bods have used the junction box on the front of my house to take a feed from and go to next doors !!
It could be a genuine mistake as I live in a terrace and you quite often get people walking up the wrong garden path but still ?!
Its not a problem as such but do I/should I get it removed and make sure they have a feed to their own house from the road ?

It will cause a problem in that if they ever have an engineer out they will need to go to your junction box to fix it, and possibly disconnect you to run tests etc. The installer was obviously trying to save running a new cable from the road (a lot of hassle!) but I very much doubt it's an installation policy to take one customer feed off another's property without permission.
They should not run a piggy back cable from one premise to another. One reason it may have been done is if the other property needs a new cable running and they have temporarily run a cable from yours - but they should have asked first.
Sadly, the installers are 3rd parties and not employed directly by VM so they seem to make up the rules as they go in some cases.
A potential other cause may be if your neighbours have got hold of a hooky box and got a mate to wire them up. Not that the hooky box will work for very much longer, though.
Either way, it's worth calling and raising a complaint. Or you could try the online support forums, they are manned from the UK and may be able to give you a quicker answer.

Apparently all of the call centres in india will be closing within 18 months.
Well thats a relief.
I spent half an hour on the phone to VM India a fewdays ago and the chap told my ntlworld email didn't exist. I pointed out that I had used it for 5 years and only received an email the day before using it.
Then he told me something was happening to email and it would take a while. I asked was this hours/days and he said 'Yes, a while'.

Ohhh yes, talking of VM, that email that went out about the new email server and the changes that have to be made if you are using Outlook Express and other programes, was that a proper email? I am hearing from some people that it was spam, I spoke to VM India yesterday to ask about it, and I am not sure that she fully understood what I was talking about.
I had the same concerns as you so, went to the Virginmedia home-page and did some clicking. Turned out that the e-mail is genuine.Laurel Green said:

I'm not using OE, I'm using Office Outlook, so do I need to do the fiddling?

In was talking to a call centre in scotland at the weekend - soooooo much more helpful. Apparently all of the call centres in india will be closing within 18 months.
Yeah I had to call them yesterday, dreading the usual useless helpdesk in India but got straight through to someone in the UK who knew exactly what I needed to know and helped me sort the problem out within minutes. Very good !Edited by mids on Wednesday 26th May 13:17
