Bands for a wedding - ceilidh and cover
Discussion
We are on the hunt for a decent band for our wedding next year at Kings college, Aberdeen (17th Sept). We would like mostly Ceilidh music with maybe a few covers thrown in for good measure.
So has anyone any suggestions? Some of the prices I have seen are rediculous so someone reasonable is a bonus.
Thanks in advance!

If you want a band that will 'get the party going', I would recommend SKERRYVORE.
We had them at our wedding 2 years ago and they were fantastic. They are a great bunch of guys and will make your day memorable

I've seen them play in Aberdeen, I bet they weren't cheap to hire!?
Ted Christopher and the guys in Bannockburn. Do the lot, and are great fun as well.

We had Shindig for our reception 5 years ago:

Can thoroughly recommend. Played on a lot longer than they were contracted to.
Feedback from all guest were good, they also walk through the dances for anyone not familiar with the moves which really helped to get everyone involved!
Do both the typical ceilidh stuff and covers of more contemporay tunes.

Graeme Geddes played at mine and few friends weddings. Can't rate him highly enough.

We use these guys at the distillery and " on the wagon " on the wagon are pretty good to ...the both of these bands cover off our corporate market entertainment which is a bit of both £500-£600
Thank you for all of the suggestions, sorry I am just replying now!!
The bands we have looked at so far have been £1200+. I was looking for something sub £1000 probably somewhere around the £600-£800. I don't know if that is realistic or not, but i guess i will find out when i start phoning around these guys.
Thanks again for all of the suggestions so far, it's much appreciated.

You might get a local band to play for £1k but i would think it would be a struggle to get a good band to travel up to Aberdeen for less. The bands we have looked at so far have been £1200+. Just not economically viable.
