Unusual Ferrari in Bournemouth - what was it?
Discussion
I saw an older red Ferrari today that I had no knowledge of and wondered if anyone on here would know what it was. The only way I can describe it is a cross between a 330 GTC and an F40. Unless the brief glimpse deceived me, it had no roof either. A really low snout with an oval intake, curvy lines, round lamps and quite a high spoiler. Gorgeous thing, and I wish i'd been following it rather than sat on the other side of a carriageway barrier craning my neck.
Many thanks, detectives.
ETA: It seems it must have been a race car. The closest one I can find to the appearance is a 512S/M.

I was down at Bournemouth a few years back, on Sundays they have a collection of Classic Cars on display on the hill between the Pier and the Marriott Hotel.
There was a decent replica Ferrari P3/4 in the line up - and from the description you are giving I reckon it was this car.

Certainly might be a replica - looks good though.
For info, the gathering of classics by Bournemouth called "Classic Cars on the Prom" http://www.ccotp.co.uk/
Haven't been for a while but there is usually something interesting to look at.

I went along to the Classic Cars on the Prom event this afternoon and the car in question was there.
The car is apparently a P4 rebodied in 1974 after the current owner rolled it. In '84 the engine was changed to a 3.2 with more road manners than the previous engine.
Few pics below taken on my mobile so excuse the poor quality.

Last time I went down I spoke to the chap, as said above it is a replica and I believe it was him who rolled it, In the rebuild he decided to make it look like a fighter. The car is apparently a P4 rebodied in 1974 after the current owner rolled it. [/thumb]In the front grille you can see two gataling guns and in the "cockpit" there is a resperator and plane joy stick as well as other plane replicas. Normally the chap dresses as a pilot for a laugh. He also owns a NSX.

It's a Noble kitcar that the owner has buggered about with, I think the owner may be having a giggle with the description . . . . . .more so as the only way he could role that car in 1974, would be to load the thing into a time machine first The car is apparently a P4 rebodied in 1974 after the current owner rolled it. The vehicle Q342ANJ, a Kit Deal (Sports), is on our database. To discover its history please continue.
Clearly a kit car - the owner is a being a bit economical with the truth on the spec sheet! (especially as the P3/4s were V12s)Ozzie Dave said:
Have a look at Neil Foreman- NF Autos, I would think its one of his cars, they are well regarded, have a look.

..and as AndrewW-G said, it's been messed about with a bit too.The details on the MID are:
Vehicle Make/Model: Noble P4
Yes its a Noble.
I don't know who/why you would alter it in the manner it has been - its a little odd.
Lee Noble made these and Ultimas back in the late 1980's under the guise of KitDeal Limited so its not a 1974 car but may have used a 1974 donor.
The running gear is from a Renault 25.
