Me and the Mrs stayed over at her sister's house on Monday night on our way back from a long trip.

She lives in quite a nice area but seemingly that doesn't seem to make any difference - at about 11pm there is a tremendous racket outside and there are about 20-30 beer swilling yobs staggering up the street chanting the conga song (I think), "Engerlaaaand" etc etc. It really was (for want of a better word) alarming. I can imagine that a lot of people with kids or the elderly would have been quite scared, and there was no way I was going out and saying anything (as it seems to be the fashion to stamp on peoples heads these days - an experience I'd rather miss, thanks). This went on for a fair while; I was getting very worried about the car.

However my main point is this - what kind of tts are these people? What is it about football that seems to attract this knuckle-dragging element? I'd be prepared to bet that if you were to make a similar racket outside one of these shaven-headed thugs houses - or drive a TVR with loud pipes past while his kids were playing - they'd be out like a shot to administer a few threats.

This isn't a rant (0/10 for swearies wink), I simply find it depressing that I have to share the same planet as these kind of people. People who simply have no manners or consideration for others or thoughts about their actions.

Was anything in the street damaged? If not, just a bunch of lads in high spirits that the team won?

Indeed.

I'm no fan of people singing outside my house at 11:30 at night but you can't go thinking that a group of people celebrating a team's win is the same as a load of shirtless fat blokes lobbing plastic chairs at the rozzers. However you feel about football and whether it really matters that much, there are a lot of people for whom it is a way of life.

Live and let live - after all, it'll all be over my the first round of the knockout stages wink

That is assuming they are not already on a regular basis.

I can accept high spirits etc but this was something else - it was really intimidating - also unacceptable in the location.

I'd describe it as somewhere in between "high spirits" and "lobbing plastic chairs at the police".

It's probably just me then wink so I'd best climb back into my box.

I'm sorry, but you mentioned nothing about them fighting, vandalising or causing trouble.

I'm shaven headed, love football and love a beer....but I also drive a TVR......

Where does this leave me?

I know what you mean - although they aren't actually doing anything, they are perilously close to becoming aggressive and violent. It's just another step away for one of them to start jumping on a car or whaling on an old lady or something.

What a load of crap. Why do you automatically think the next step is to get aggressive and violent? They were doing the conga down the street and singing, they sound happy to me. rolleyes
