PH Plumbers - Hot water issue

Hi All,

Since Saturday our hot water has suddenly got very hot. Normally we would use the shower with just the hot tap on but now need to use the cold tap.
This leads to me doing a little jig as the water temp seems to go for scalding hot to freezing cold (and vice-versa) at regular intervals.

Towards the end of last week our boiler was making a few odd noises (like a fan bearing) but it seems to have quietened down again.

I've turned the boiler right down (at least I think I have) and I know the external temp is higher than it has been for a while so the water is probably heating up more quickly and staying hotter longer, but is there anything else I should look for?

Is it a combi boiler? Or do you have a hot water tank? Is it just the shower that's very hot?

A good question... I can't remember.

Not just the shower, the sink taps and the kitchen tap are both very hot as well
