I love football always have & always will, but am i the only person who is not that bothered about the world cup ? just think it's going to be one big disaster on & off the pitch , hopefully when the tournament starts i will rekindle my enthusiasm for the national team , being a spurs fan i really hope fabio omits all six from the final 23 , maybe i'm being over humbugish but i'm so struggling to get excited about the forthcoming beautiful game extravaganza . anyone else feel the same ? maybe i'm just getting old & grumpy !

There's a girl at work who isn't bothered with the World Cup, which I find strange as she goes to a lot of club matches.

I don't really get why some people aren't interested, you like football, the World Cup is more football. What's not to like?

Sure England will probably be piss poor and go out on penalties, but it's still exciting, there's a buzz, people get right into it.

I'm the complete opposite, I enjoy league football but never that excited about it but I love World Cups/European championship, I really can't wait for it to start. I intend to watch/listen to every game this time round.

I've pretty much given up on league football, but the World Cup is unique. This is what it is all about.

Love it, can't get enough - and my 3 year old is getting very excited too!

Going to Wembley on Saturday and would rather see Millwall get promoted. F*ck the overpaid mercenaries that play for our country.

I actually hate all the crap that goes with the WC. Its almost not about the football anymore.

And flags. I fking hate the silly little plastic tat flags that people stick on this bleeding cars.

A lot of people love football and the WC is great for them, me included.

A number of people love THEIR club only. It's a tribal thing. I'm not convinced they're *that* into football, they just like the club fan thing.

A bit like music. I love music, have loads of CDs, been to loads of gigs of different bands etc. However, I know someone who only loves Coldplay*, see's them a lot etc. but listens to precious little else. They love the band but not music as a whole.

  • Not a dig a Coldplay, I like them but if that's the ONLY band you really like, there's something very wrong biggrin

One thing I can't understand is people will call Rooney, Crouch etc a and boo them when they play in the league, then worship them when they play for their country. Make up your mind!

I'm never excited for the WC or Euro until it starts. I find the tedious pre-tournament friendlies boring to watch as you can see the apprehensiveness in the players, like a group of strangers having a kick about.

Once England have won a few games in the group stages, then I'll be excited!

Football means the same to me as womens crown green bowling.Actually less as a bowling "green" is not surrounded by hundreds of baying oiks.

I do however have friends that like football but none of them can explain why on every news channel on a Saturday the Scottish league results are read out.Are there many English that support Scottish clubs? Does what happens in the Scottish league have any influence?

Maybe because Sky Sports News etc are broadcast in Scotland as well......

PS it's also for football pools.

Hmm..Sky Sports News maybe..but I don't have Sky.Surely Scotland has it's own bespoke BBC channel? What about ITV? Is it exactly the same north and south of the border?

Fair point about the pools though, even if only a fraction of the population play them.

In Scotland we also get all the English results even down to the Blue Square leagues, don't forget how many people do the fixed odds coupons as well.

How can you love football but not care about the world cup?

Every game is played like a cup final. The best players in the world are on show. Guaranteed drama in the knock outs.

You can't be a true football fan if you don't care about the world cup

Every game...really? Have you watched any of the games, they've been mostly shocking especially when England have been involved.

Sorry but I'm sick of the world cup, the vuvuzelas and the awful football on display. The printing of the fixture list has been my highlight of the month as I can begin to plan which games I want to go to where I can possibly see some good football on show.

I may have only been alive for 5 world cups, but this is the worst I have ever seen.
