Pre-serp Alternator....
Discussion
I was amazed how easy the pre serp alternator is to get apart - and more importantly put back together!

You can swing them, but then have the thread against the head and the nut is not just a locknut anymore (I suspect many will be like this already..
LR's mainly put them on the L/H or upside down when on the R/H bank..
You can solder new brushes in fit a new regulator pack whilst stripped for the bearings. Easier to buy the whole lot in a service pack, Factors may get them, I always use a local autoelec distributor as they stock loads of Lucas stuff.

Ahhh Love it
New alternator £90 ish
1. Strip alternator, remove bearing...1 hour
2. Go to bearing factors
3. Bearing supplied FOC

4. Re-fit and re-assemble alternator 1.5 hours..
5. Re-fit to car and check...

Car fixed for free..... Plus I now know what's involved in pulling an alternator apart
