My girlfriend has a Cat which is a tad fat, and getting bigger. It only eats two packets of food a day and we're pretty sure it won't fit through the Cat flap anymore, so it can't be nipping out for tasty snacks elsewhere. How do we start getting it back into shape?

My brothers fat cat has been on a diet of rabbit. Stop the packets and give it raw rabbit. He's getting thinner all the time and he seems to really like the rabbit.

ETA: Do you think I've said rabbit enough? Now I have.

Introduce it to a dog.

See other thread for how to do this.

Oh I don't know, maybe try giving it less food?

2 packets? aren't they only supposed to have one? my cat was only fed one bowl of dry iams per day, never left the house and never got fat.

get a laser pointer. they go nuts for them, never tire of chasing the dot. make him run around the living room all night.

Give it 1 packet a day and keep it in the house to stop it from going else where for food.

And buy some scalextric for the cat to do some exercise!

It's so simple, it might just work......

Oh, and I assume that on top of the two packets of food he gets treats? How much does the moggy weigh? Does it go out at all - i.e. out the door not just waddle through the cat flap? How old is it? Is it neutered?
