Selling my car on Autotrader and have had a couple of replies. One of them has been purely email contact only offering to give me the full asking money which he will send in the form of a bankers draft or simular. In exchange he wants my Name, Full address & phone number. He also offered to give me a little bit extra for my troubles. At first glance i thought this must be a scam but thinking back, where can it go wrong? Surely if the money clears i'm ok right? Like i said i would prefere cash can they de-fraud me with those details?

FFS.

Get a grip. It's a scam.

Look at your thread title. Think about what you wrote.

Let's assume that he (or a member of his extended family, or gang, or group of dodgy mates) works in a call centre for a big mobile company. So he has your name, address and mobile number....... So now he has your bank details............ and what else..............?

WAKE UP SUNSHINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you advertised your car and put your mobile number in the advert could they not find out the above info without his name and address.

I do apologise i'm not to your standards of being super intelligent as you may have well discovered in my previous post. But i do like to take some advise in certain areas. And as you would have seen in another previous post i didn't know how i would be scammed. Thank you for showing me the errors of my ways.

Yep, far better to ask now & keep your car than ask when it's gone. If you think it's fishy then don't go ahead.

The sort of comment made by people who beg for our help when they're about to get reamed.

Maybe I am being a little nieve here but if you advertise a car for sale you have to give them a telephone number so you can received calls about the car. Likewise it would be pretty hard for them to view the car without the address, to be honest most telephone books hold this information.
