The nurburgring
Discussion
I dont know if this is in the right place ( the thread that is not the ring itself
) but if anyone knows ---
How much did the nurburgring cost to build?
Who owns it?
How much profit do they make per day or month?
And could we have our very own ring in the uk?
Talking to someone at work earlier who thinks we should build our very own ring in the UK. ( that exlcudes the M25
) But erm.... where would you put it?

No chance, health and safety wouldn't allow a de-restricted public toll road. Noise regs mean tracks that have been around for donkeys years are having huge restrictions imposed on them, so i can hardly see planning permission going through for race track that would act as a tourist attraction, permanently producing noise!

Thinking about it if Lord March (or any other huge land owner) decided to build not within miles of anyone else (and the local road network could cope) then Im sure they could get planning. It would be a private tol road but then so is the M6 toll. could work. you need a stack of land, no neighbours and humungous cash reserves....[quote]
