Warranty expires...car breaks down

Car (X5, E70) runs perfectly for 3 years, 2 weeks after warranty runs out it breaks down. What are the chances?

Electric handbrake, refusing to turn off. Car won't shift.

Really not impressed.

That'll be the cars' ECU getting a signal to say you haven't renewed your warranty! :>)
