Recommendations for food near Gare Du Nord on Sunday night?
Discussion
Hi all,
Got a last minute jaunt with the girlfriend to Paris this weekend on Eurostar and we're staying in the Gare du Nord area.
We'd like to eat somewhere near the hotel on the Sunday night. I appreciate it's possibly not the hub of all things gastronomic but would like to find somewhere with some Parisian character, French cuisine and friendly service.
Someone's recommended the Terminus Nord brasserie opposite the station itself but they've not been for a few years so it's not a recent review.
Cheers

are you both carnivores?
i really like this place: http://www.lejgo.com/cuisine.html
its very "rustic" south western french cuisine. lots of roasts, stews, and a fantastic selection of red wines. I go there when i go to watch rugby
a map showing the walk there and back:

a little further away (still less than 2km, so a short taxi ride) is Diner au Derriere - very trendy for Paris!

I once had a cracking meal at Brasserie Julien (during the rugby world cup, so a while back now). It's nearer Gare d L'Est, and the general area's perhaps not the best ("earthy"), but that's what cabs are for Assuming the food's still as good, it's worth finding...
Was in Paris last month during the marathon and was recommended Chez Flottes (near Place de la Concorde - again, not the closest to Gare du Nord, but not a million miles either). On balance I think I prefer Julien, but this was a decent enough place too, rammed with locals so "authentic"
Take plenty of cash. Paris was ferociously expensive this time round (further relegating it waaaay down my list of preferred cities in Europe).

Thanks for the suggestions folks. Had a great trip over the weekend and still can't believe how quick the train travel goes between Paris and London. We ended up eating on the Sunday night at a small place called L'Ardoise Gourmande 10 minutes walk from the main station and would definitely go back again.

Another option is to hop on the train to the Gare Du Lyon station and go to the Train Blue restaraunt which is in the station itself. Dont be fooled by the location. The dining room is stunning and the food is very good.
Was this one of the locations in the film 'Nikita'?Edited by Davey S2 on Thursday 27th May 11:00
