Pulled onto a fairly busy road today and found myself following a moped. No big deal, I was in no rush and I only hate them when they point their headlights at my rear-view mirror in a 20 zone.

Few seconds later I thought she's a bit far to the left, like a cyclist. And not going very fast.

Then I noticed lack of rear plates. It had the plastic bodywork and big light cluster.

Then I noticed, as we came to the bottom of the hill, she's PEDALLING!! smile

Over the roundabout and it becomes an incline, and she is now a cyclist! I had enough patience for one dy and overtook her.

But wtf was it?? Some sort of electric bike thing?

Surely it would have just been an old-school moped? See them a lot on the continent:

Seems like it but had the whole modern rounded plastic bodywork thing going on! Coupled with the fact it had no rear number plate I suspect it's something new

I could use something like that for my commute which is just a bit too much to cycle...

Seen one or two of these locally ~ usually ridden by more senior types of either sex... They look like a substantial push bike. It appears they have a power pack and electric motor but, when say battery runs low or a steepish hill, they have to deploy one human power ~ via the pedals.... smile Not a bad way to get about provided not too hilly or windy.

There are quite a few electric mopeds being made now

I can't remember the exact legislation but I think something like a powered vehicle that can't exceed 20mph and below a certain weight doesn't need a number plate.

Getting there but it had definite pedals!! And she wasn't using them on the actual hill more like she was pedalling over the roundabout then allowing the "machine" to crawl up the hill.

Am I sounding a bit jealous? smile

You'll see a fair few in Cambridge.

They do look just like a fat bicycle, but with an electric motor on it.

Reminds me of 'Open All Hours' when Granville tried to put a two-stroke on his shop bike.

I see one on the way to work everyday.

Looks like an old Honda moped but modern, silver, with pedals.

Travels at about 7mph with the pedals rotating as it goes.

Looks completely stupid!
