Can't get in the boot!!

As above, went to fill up with fuel and the boot wont open! I can hear the solenoid moving, so I think the cable must have stretched too much (or snapped) as the boot has been a little tough to get into recently.
Anyone know what I can do? Have tried it a few times today but no joy, and I haven't got many ideas!
