On my travels at work last night drove past a recovery agent we use in Gateshead and spotted the below through the compound fence. No idea of how it ended up like this but looks pretty nasty/dead.

Ouch. Roof needing to be cut off = not cool.
Standard practice nowadays. Stabilise the suspension to stop it moving, disconnect the battery to stop the airbags going off then remove roof.335Dmapped said:

We had training in how to get people out of crashed cars safely and had to assist with a roof-off jobby (only in a scenario, not in a real crash). If the person has neck/back pain and can't be removed from the car safely then they whip the roof off. At the end of the day, someone's quality of life after an accident is worth more than a roof, whatever car it is.
The firemen said that a few weeks before, they had a chap in a 'flashy new 7 series bmw' who didn't want them to cut his car apart - they did it anyway.

I remember watching one of those Police camera progams where there had been a fairly minor accident. Someone in a newish Jag X-Type stopped to help and moved the person from the crashed car into their own car, until the paramedics arrived. When they did the person complained of a sore neck....so the fire brigade then cut the roof off the perfectly good Jag!
So if you ever stop at the scene of an accident, don't let the victims sit in your car (unless it's a convertible).

Yep, they don't mess about if there's potential spinal injuries as it can result in paralysis/ death - if it were my neck I'd be glad of that to be honest.

Quite shocking how easily the car was written off though, made me wonder how the insurance claim went....the owner seemed very calm about it.
