Very cool.

You're sitting there with friends out on the veranda sipping a Martini. "Ere watch this lads" you say as you whip out a remote control... *plip... whirrrrrrr.... 911!*

nah, what you want is a "diversion" sign that is removable (later to be replaced with a hedge), and a sliding wall leading into your subterranian garage, full of very large electrical equipment that makes beeps, bloops and flashes lights at random. With reel to reel tapes on.
THAT is a garage =)

Nice idea but what happens when you work late, you get in, it's 11pm, you abandon the car on there and press the button to lower it down.

Except it's late and the backs hanging over the edge a bit...

I should imagine it has sensors that will prevent it moving if there is an overhang...

With gravel on top of it wouldn't you get a shower of stones raining down every time you opened it?

Yes, because there not stuck down in any way.

Mate of mine has a similar one in his garage. Drive into garage and the 4 post lift lowers into an under ground gargae. There's a top on the lift like the one in the picture so once the lift is down there you can still walk in and around the garage

A 911 under the shrubbery? You should see what he's got under his pool...

If I owned one of those I'd probably try to hide it away, too.
