Now is there some secret trick to this as I've popped off the horn push, undone the big nut and the thing isn't going anywhere. frown
Tried pulling as hard as I can....tried hitting from behind....still nothing. smash

Any clues? scratchchin

Thats what I was expecting...putting my weight into it and smacking myself in the face with the wheel when it comes off...looks like I need a little more brute strength....

Leave the nut on loose. . . . Saves the broken nose.

I needed a three-jaw hub puller to get mine to split.

Be careful with pullers... the boss is pretty soft and very easy to damage.

I used a 3 legged puller to get mine off, and put a very slight kink in the top edge of the wheel. Not that it matters to me because I now have a Momo Fighter steering wheel.
Well, kind of. I've removed the paint from the centre then polished and brush finished it. I also ditched the horn button and plate and made the TVR horn button fit.

Soak with WD40/Pen oil, then a few light taps to break the bond with a hammer on the shaft (through the centre of the wheel, use a punch but dont damage the thread)

The tapping will run the wd40 onto the splines and then it should just lift off

I use either of 2 ways:

1 - loosen nut and then repeatedly hit (with your palms) at 3 & 9 o'clock on the BACK of the steering wheel rim. Hit alternate sides repeatedly to try and jog it loose.

2 - I have had more success with this - loosen nut (but do not remove completely, you only need a couple of turns), then either get your knees behind the wheel to put constant pressure on it (or get a helper to do this. At the same time, hit the centre of the shaft with a small/medium lump hammer.
If you think you may be at risk of damaging the thread on the shaft, then use a long socket to transfer the shock..

Good luck!

Cheers - Simon

No joy tonight, I'm sure it just needs more force but taking it for a mild face lift tomorrow then when it comes back from that it's back to the body off people to sort the snagging so could well leave it to them.....feel a propper muppet being beaten by a steering wheel though.....

loosen nut, get a ally bar and copper hammer, use ur knees to pull the steering wheel towards u and hit it!! U can hit it hard but dont loose ur temper, if u hit it really really hard u could snap the collapsible part of the collum smile

I needed heavy duty pullers, and when it went it went with a bang!yikes. i thought i had bust it, but every thing was fine. There was no way mine would have come out with anything els the pressure needed was very high.smash

Hi got mine off in the end by using a rubber mallet 16oz jobbie and hitting it hard from behind as close as i could to the boss, started using a piece of 2x2 but it absorbs some of the impact, it came off with some persuasion and lots fo GT85.... I am not convinvced about the pullers as they could damage the wheel but also again put a lot of pressure down the rack so could damge the washer??? just my 2p
