Well, not won it yet but was travelling through Gatwick Airport last week and bought some win a supercar raffle tickets and the guy assured me "you've got a winner there", so anticipating a call soon....

Anyway have spent the last week soaking up the sun in Italy driving the OH mad deliberating(sp?) which car I will choose when I win. This month the prize list to choose 1 from is something like:
F430
DB9
R8
911 Carrera S + £20k
Boxster spyder + 40k
GT3 RS
Caterham R500 + £60k
£90k cash

The problem is I earn an OK salary but don't have a garage or huge amounts of disposable income so could I actually afford to run one of these so opinions from everyone please on what they would go for. Would you get a base f430 and spend all your money just to run it or would you plump for the £90k cash?

Things to consider:
You cannot sell the car within 12 months of receiving it
The car provided would be a totally base car, any options you would have to pay for up front.

I could use £90k more that I could use a Ferrari on my drive, depreciating like a fking stone.

I did one of those last year in gatwick too but only had a DB9 iirc and a R8, didnt win though as you can tell from "my garage" in my profile! hehe

Cash please!

Then I would purchase:

Exige £20k
Caterham Superlight R £20k
E39 M5 £12k

The rest of the cash can be sat in the bank waiting for some enormous fuel bills.

You cant run one of those cars if you are skint, the insurance alone will be too much.

Sell it. Assuming you get £90k and have no other debts (pay those off first), bank £60K and get yourself a quality £30k sports car - plenty of others here will advise what best to get for £30k.

For me it would be £90k.

Would then build an Ultima and keep the Tuscan, plus with the change a nice run around car smile

You might have taken the £90k cash option and spent it on an Astra...

£90k and pay off the mortgage.

Any money left can go on a car otherwise start what would have been the mortgage payments towards one.

Assuming you're talking about BOTB, isn't there the option for an Audi R8 + RR Sport?

Shirley a winning combo?

All winners get £6k towards servicing etc... on top of the car.

Ecluding insurance, you should be able to run one as a weekend toy for less than 2k per year, if that were a problem, you could take the £90k, buy a used 360 for £30-40k put £10k to one side to run it for a few years and pocket the rest smile

R500 and £60k. Awesome combination. Although I do like the look of the look of the Boxster Spyder. Still I'd have the R500.

Gimme the money !

I'm a regular traveller and often see these supercar raffles. Many of the cars look a bit lived-in (tyres etc). Not sure where they some from.

Anyhoo, Gimme the money, I'll have a 911 996 Turbo and an Atom and spend the rest of boring stuff to keep SWMBO happy.
I believe they are ordered new. You can spec RHD or LHD and extras etc... The cars on the stands are just show cars.

Gotta be the cash. If you had 90K sat in the bank you know youd either not buy the cars on that listOR you would but youd negotiate a better deal with the dealer and not have the 'you cant sell within 12 months clause'. Incidenetally how can they do that, do you not get clean title to the car when you win it???

I played last month as my account had been dormant for so long they sent me a half price token, I un-suprisingly didn't win but I "came close" so they gave me 25% off another go. I think I'll leave it for now. I'm not so keen on the spot the ball and unlimited entries, I'd prefer a straight raffle and know the odds. Regeards what if I won, I'd go for a cheaper scale car and cash.

I passed through Gatwick on the 10th may and spotting this, they had a red rarri and a white thing that looked a bit like a f1 car, but it was a 2 seater.

Any ideas.

Came close????? Really what are the chnaces of that?? If you play again next time I bet you'll come "really close" and then maybe "really really close".

I think they have a sound business model and wish them the best of luck but they really shouldnt say things like this to entice people into spending money. Suggest you ask thenm just HOW close you came because from their response they must know. Were you 2nd, 4th or 317th in line? Bet they cant/wont tell you but dont worry, you were close!
