Tent camping - within 1hr of London?

I was chatting to a few friends the other day saying how I would love to go away camping for a weekend somewhere.

I'm after some suggestions of sites within a 1hr (or so) of London, so ideally Essex coast, W&E Sussex, maybe a bit of Kent??

It has to accept tents (we don't have a caravan!) and preferably lively as were all mid 20-30's age range....

Pretty sure there is a campsite that has recently opened up oposite parliament, that's quite close to London



other campers might not be very happy though (see what I did there )

Suggest Arundel. Very nice town and area quite close to London.

Alternatively try Alfriston. There's a campsite there in the Cuckmere Valley (which is beautiful) with plenty of good walks in the area, not least in the Seven Sisters Country Park. Some great pubs in the area too, The George being my favourite in the village centre.
